Illinois Student Film Festival

Seated patrons view a screening in the Spurlock Museum in Urbana, Ill. during the Illinois Student Film Festival on May 2, 2025.

Starting in the of 2024 to May 2025, I worked on developing the Illinois Student Film Festival. The festival focused on making a night showcasing local films from students to be displayed for the public to view as well as provide a chance to receive funding to continue their careers in filmmaking.

Research was conducted into prior film festivals by a class of students. Participants involve in the festival separated into different roles towards the production of the event. I took on a role focused on social media and outreach. I created content for festival’s social media page in the forms of still image posts and video content. Beyond social media, I recorded video promotion at Richmond Studio in Urbana, Ill., sharing information on the festival to be broadcasted on the local station.

During the night of the festival, hosted at the Spurlock Museum in Urbana, Ill.,  I photographed the event as well as attendees and film makers at the festival’s photo station.

A panel is held with several student filmmakers — hosting a discussion on their film presented on the big screen.
